Peace Garden re-developed

Peace Garden re-developed

There have been a number of changes at the at the Parish Office, I have gained my CiLCA (Certificate in Local Council Administration) and Great Glen now has a fully qualified Clerk! This qualification is a step towards becoming recognised as a Quality Council, I would like to thank the Council for their support with this study and their continued support for the Local Policy Certificate I am working towards through the University of Gloucester. Harborough recently employed an enforcement officer, Graham Rowlands is now based at the Parish Office, PC Faithfull is the new beat officer for the area and we look forward to having a regular police presence in the village again. The Eco-Town remains topical for the Parish Council with the second phase of consultation that will now be running until October on behalf of CASCET (the Campaign Against Stoughton Eco-Town) the Parish Council would like to thank all the people of Great Glen who have contributed towards their campaign. This has been a busy time for work at the Cemetry and the recreation ground. Having secured the additional funding the Council are pleased to announce the competion of the long awaited BMX/Skatepark at the Recreation Ground. The kicking wall has been repainted and two new pieces of equipment have been put on the playpark to replace old items. The first phase of a redevelopment of the Peace Garden in the Cemetry is well under way. The Council have put together ‘Welcome Packs’ for new residents in a bid to inform of local services and facilities, these are available to all new residents upon request at the office. Just a reminder that the a member of Harborough District Council customer services team is available in the Parish Office every Tuesday between 9.30 – 12.30pm. This year we have run three Councillor Surgeries, these are your opportunities to meet the elected members we are hoping to run more of these events and they will be advertised in advance. Let us know what projects you would like to see in the parish, questionnaires are also available on line. All members of the public are welcome to meetings of the parish which are held every second Tuesday of the month in the parish office starting at 7.30pm. Please come along and let your views be known. The Council has three internet computer’s available for public use ‘free of charge’ this facility comes via Leicestershire Connect, where a host of local information can be gathered (school holidays, access to police, and village fault reporting) do take advantage of this facility, use it or loose it!! A member of Harborough District Council customer service team is available in the Parish Office every Tuesday morning between 9.30am to 12.30pm to deal with any district enquiries you have.
